These cupcakes are your standard vanilla cupcake with buttercream frosting, so you can actually use it all year round but change the decoration of them.  But the addition of the red, white, and blue sprinkles makes them very patriotic for Independence Day!

How to Make Red White and Blue Cupcakes

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Stir dry ingredients together. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, oil, buttermilk, and vanilla. Mix both sets of ingredients together. Fold in the sprinkles using a spatula. Pour the batter into the cupcake liners and bake for about 15 minutes. Beat the butter for about 2 minutes until smooth and creamy. Mix the vanilla into the butter. Add the powdered sugar a little at a time. Once all the powdered sugar is added, turn the mixer to high for about 2 minutes until light and fluffy. Let the cupcakes cool before frosting them.

These cupcakes are so delicious and festive.  And like I said earlier, you can use this recipe for other holidays by changing the sprinkle color!   The options are endless really depending on your creativity! If you make this recipe be sure to leave us a comment or rating. Enjoy!
