Begin making the vanilla cake mix by following the directions on the box.  Pour a cup of the batter on the bottom of the springform pan. Pour it over the chocolate chips and butter in a heat-safe bowl. Stir to melt the chocolate. Remove the cheesecake from the springform pan and pour the ganache over top. Allow to chill again before serving.
